Trophy Stalking Weekend
Spring 2011

Got a Hallpass for the weekend and guess where I'm headed? Back to the Gunny area for some fun and some double digit trout chasing.

One thing is for sure about this place; there's plenty of wind, cold weather and a tough fishing to be had. One great day and one terrible stormy day to end my trip, hey a few good fish so no complaining here!

Colorado Fall Adventures

Fall is by and large my favorite time of the year to fish. When there's gorgeous 70' days, fall colors, big fish getting anxious and a hallpass to get away, I'm all about chasing some trout!

Arkansas Rivers Mothers Day Caddis and Delaney Buttes!
Summer 2010
We made it to our annual river trip to the Arkansas River recently with my Dad in town and despite most of the hatch scattered all over and somewhat thinned out, we managed to enjoy ourselves catching many browns.
Many of my fishing Pals know that when these two things happen, Troutdawg will be no where else but on the Lakes. When the rivers turn milky and runoff begins as well as when my Chironomids begin, I'm always hitting the lakes.

Winter Fly Fishing Tips!
Winter 2010
What Is It About Winter That Calls You Back To The Water?
Is it the Lack of crowds? Is it the masses headed to the Hills to ski or maybe you just need to get out because, well you like to fish?
Winter Fly Fishing in the Rockies can be an experience all to itself if you need a day out on the water. Winter fly-fishing in Colorado is much different from Fall and Spring fishing, the people are gone, the scenery is awesome, and the pace is relaxing. Due the winter weather it can change minute to minute so be mindful of your area and always be prepared for that nasty storm at any time.

Any chance I get to get back to Florida I'm all over it! Due to cheap flights, a free condo to stay at on the Beach in Clearwater, access to a boat and a ton of water to choose from....I'm There. A few times a year I get back down South to chase some Redfish, Snook, False albacore, Jacks, or if I'm lucky, Tarpon!

Stillwater Fishing Is Heating Up!
Summer 2009

Why do we Stillwater fish so much a friend asked me recently, I asked him in return, do you like to catch big fish? He said heck yeah, enough said! It's definitely and acquired taste and not for everyone, but when you get Hooked "Literally" there's nothing that compares to the fight of some of these fish.

Tarpon Fishing Boca Grande, Florida!
Late Spring, 2009
Tags: Tarpon on a fly, port charlotte, florida saltwater, boy's weekend

To think of catching a Tapon on a fly is about as good as it get's. What it takes to catch one, or better yet a big one takes about 30 things to go right and a lot of luck! We had a great time in Boca Grand (Tarpon Capitol of the World) recently and to begin telling you how much fun we had wouldn't do it quite justice, so take a look for yourself and book your trip today!
What are your odds when out Chasing Silver's you might ask? Our guide, as well as others, stated that your odds are "1 in 100 to hook a large Tarpon, 1 in 1000 to land one!" I guess the 130lb Silver I lost taught me a lesson or two about that.
